Abstract

Orthostatic hypotension is characterized as a clinical condition that affects the majority of the senior population and associated with a high risk of mortality and morbidity.

It is characterized by being a direct consequence of physiological changes caused by aging and side effects associated with therapy. The clinical manifestation is related to the fall in blood pressure values after the passage to orthostasis.
This pathology is little studied in the scientific community and underdiagnosed in clinical practice, being absolutely essential, both for health professionals and for the population, that further studies be developed with results that prove the importance of orthostatic hypotension in order to reduce the negative impact that this pathology has on the senior population.

Thus, the aim of this study is to conduct a systematic review of the literature, using articles found on the PubMed platform, using as keywords “Orthostatic Hypotension” AND “Elderly” AND “Gender” AND “Risk Factors”.
